Research progress in pathological diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumor
Gastrointestinal stromal tumor belongs to the main type of digestive system tumors.Although this disease is not one of the most common tumors, there are significant genetic mutations and metastasis phenomena, which can cause more serious damage to patients. From a clinical perspective, this disease may exist in multiple regions of the digestive system, with the highest incidence occurring in the stomach, followed by the small intestine, followed by the colon, rectum and esophagus, and may also occur in the mesentery and other areas. There is no specific age group for this disease, and any age group may develop gastrointestinal stromal tumors. However, the vast majority of patients are concentrated between the ages of 50-80,and the number of male patients is slightly higher than that of female patients.Research has shown that the vast majority of small-sized gastrointestinal stromal tumors do not exhibit obvious clinical features in the early stages of onset. However,as the tumor continues to grow, patients will gradually exhibit symptoms such as abdominal discomfort, abdominal enlargement, loss of appetite, swallowing disorders and gastrointestinal bleeding. If not treated promptly and effectively, patients are highly likely to experience tumor rupture or gastrointestinal obstruction due to the continuous growth of the tumor, which seriously endangers the personal health and life safety of patients. This article reviews the research progress in pathological diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors,in order to provide guidance for the clinical diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
