Analysis of recurrence factors in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
Objective To explore the factors of recurrence in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, and to provide reference for improving patient prognosis. Methods A total of 150 patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo admitted to Tianjin Hongqiao Hospital from May 2021 to April 2022 were selected for study. The patients were cured after manual reduction treatment.A one-year telephone follow-up was conducted, and patients were divided into recurrence group of 48 cases and non recurrence group of 102 cases based on the follow-up results. The general information, lifestyle habits, past medical history and symptoms of patients were collected to conduct the analysis of the risk factors for recurrence of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, and the multiple facfor logistic regression analysis was conducted. Results There were significant differences between the two groups in sleep condition, mental status, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, head injury and vestibular migraine(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of gender, age, disease duration, smoking, alcohol consumption,Meniere's disease and otitis media(P>0.05).Multivariate logistic regression model showed that poor mental status, poor sleep, hypertension disease history, diabetes mellitus history, head trauma history and vestibular migraine history were the main risk factors affecting the recurrence of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Conclusion The recurrence of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo was influenced by multiple factors,so it was necessary to be vigilant and take effective intervention measures in a timely manner to reduce the risk of disease recurrence.
