Study on the therapeutic effect of propylthiouracil and methimazole in the treatment of hyperthyroidism
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of using propylthiouracil and methimazole in the treatment of hyperthyroidism patients,in order to provide guidance for the clinical treatment of hyperthyroidism. Methods From June 2021 to September 2022,75 hyperthyroidism patients admitted to Liaocheng City Chiping District People's Hospital were selected and divided into control group of 37 cases and observation group of 38 cases, according to random number table method. The control group was treated with propylthiouracil, while the observation group was treated with methimazole. The clinical treatment effects, thyroid function before and after treatment, and incidence of adverse reactions between two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 94.74%,which was higher than 78.38%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(x2=4.341,P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of FT4 and FT3 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the levels of TSH were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 5.26%,which was lower than 21.62%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(x2=4.341,P<0.05).Conclusion The effect of using methimazole to treat hyperthyroidism patients was better than that of propylthiouracil, which could significantly improve thyroid function and had high safety. It was worthy of clinical promotion and application.
