Clinical effect of glimepiride combined with insulin in the treatment of senile type 2 diabetes mellitus
Objective To study the clinical effect of glimepiride combined with insulin in the treatment of senile senile type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods A total of 100 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus admitted to Guangdong Province Zhaoqing City Gaoyao District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2019 to May 2021 were selected for the study.According to the different treatment schemes,they were divided into control group and study group with 50 cases in each group.The control group received treatment with insulin glargine,while the study group received treatment with glimepiride combined with insulin glargine.The blood glucose levels before and after treatment,time to reach blood glucose standards,24-hour urine protein quantification,and pancreatic islet function before and after treatment between two groups of patients were compared.Results Before treatment,there were no statistically significant differences in FBG and 2hPBC levels between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment,the levels of FBG and 2hPBG in the study group were lower than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The time required to reach blood glucose standards and the 24-hour urine protein quantification in the study group were lower than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment,there were no statistically significant differences in HOMA-β and HOMA-IR indices between the two groups(P>0.05);after treatment,the HOMA-β index in the study group was higher than that in the control group,and the HOMA-IR index was lower than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Glimepiride combined with insulin glargine was more effective in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Compared with insulin glargine alone,the combination of drug therapy could not only effectively improve the blood sugar level of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,but also help patients quickly improve clinical indicators.At the same time,it could also improve the function of patients with pancreatic islets,which was worthy of clinical promotion and application.
