Examinations on the Establishment of Yuan Dynasty Zhuanglang Lu—Starting from Two Zhuanglang Place Names of Gansu
There were two Zhuanglang Lu in Yuan Dynasty that were established one after the other in Gansu Province and Shaanxi Province respectively, which is the direct historical reason as to why there are two Zhuanglang place names in Gansu currently. The administrative region of Yuan Dynasty Zhuanglang Lu of Gansu Province covered the Zhuanglang River drainage area and part of the area south of the Yellow River. When partly divided to belong to Shaanxi Province, the Yellow River was used as the dividing line.North of the Yellow River was put into the administration of Gansu Province, while the southern part was merged with areas such as Lanzhou and Huizhou of Shaanxi Province.Although Zhuanglang Lu of Shaanxi Province was established because of Zhuanglang Lu of Gansu Province,it had different administrative regions from the latter, which was in the vicinity of Long Mountain that include places such as Jing,Bin,and Jingning. As a newly established Lu-level organization, its formation was related to the Chagatai forces in the Guan Shaan region. The establishment of Zhuanglang Lu was inherited from Zhuoluohenan Army Inspector's Office of Western Xia.Changes in its establishment triggered changes in borders between Shaanxi and Gansu Province.Similar traces of this kind of change can be found in the transformation of the borderlines between Song and Western Xia,as well as between Jin and Western Xia.
