Explorations on the Design of Feminine Sections in Ming Dynasty Local Records
Recordings on women are important components of Chinese traditional historical records,the contents and forms of which change along with transformation of the times.Ming Dynasty local records compilers generated new thoughts on aspects such as the choices of titles and positions of feminine sections,and categorization of women groups.According to statistics,about 70％of Ming Dynasty local records set up special feminine sections,titles of which include about a dozen such as Famous Women,Virtuous Women,Chastity,Chastity and Filial Piety,Maiden Conducts,and Women's Virtues.Along with cross usages of the parallel categories style and chapters and sections style,the latter gradually became the mainstream in the evolution trend of styles.The position and categories setup of feminine sections in Ming Dynasty local records also went through complex changes.Meanwhile,under the combined influences of the talented women culture and flourishing of local records styles in the middle and late periods of Ming Dynasty,compilers began to actively think of the issue of local records inclusion of talented women,and attempted to supplement sub-categories related to talented women.
