Examinations of Yunnan Military Affairs Records in the Collection of Northeastern Normal University Library
Yunnan Military Affairs Records recorded military affairs in Yunnan from the 10th year of the Reign of Xianfeng to the 12th year of the Reign of Guangxu,including more than 600 battles big and small that mainly related to the Yunnan Hui people rebellion and the Sino-French Vietnam War.The book is now widely circulated,but the academic circle by far is still unfamiliar with its true face.Through our investigation,Yunnan Military Affairs Records was in fact the transcripts version of the manuscripts formed during the process of writing of Yunnan General Records'Military Readiness Records on Military Affairs.Since the manuscripts are no longer in existence,and other transcripts versions are not seen,the Yunnan Military Affairs Records in the collection of Northeastern Normal University Library is in fact the only copy extant in the whole world.Texts of Yunnan Military Affairs Records are similar to the original manuscripts.It can amend the Yunnan General Records during Guangxu time,and serves as useful historical references for research on modern history and Yunnan local history.
