Intellectual Property Protection and Urban Green Technology Inno-vation Efficiency in the Yangtze River Economic Belt—Spatial Effects Analysis from the Perspective of Innovation Value Chain
Based on the innovation value chain theory,the green technological innovation process is divided into two stages:scientific and technological research and development(R&D)and transformation of achieve-ment.On this basis,the green innovation effect of intellectual property protection in 108 cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2011 to 2020 are empirically analyzed.The results show that:(1)Intellectual property protection has a positive promotion effect on the total efficiency of local green innovation and its sub-stage efficiency,with a positive spatial spillover effect on the efficiency of scientific and technological R&D,and a negative spatial spillover effect on the efficiency of achievement transformation,but the spatial impact on the total efficiency is still positive.(2)Strengthening intellectual property protection can promote the effi-ciency of green technological innovation through three channels:attracting foreign direct investment,promot-ing financial development and improving the quality of human capital.(3)Heterogeneity analysis shows that strengthening IPR protection in the downstream cities of the Yangtze River Economic Belt promotes the effi-ciency of scientific and technological R&D and the achievement transformation,while strengthening IPR pro-tection in the middle and upper reaches does not have a significant effect on the efficiency of scientific and tech-nological R&D,and it even has a negative effect on the efficiency of the achievement transformation.The research results provide a decision-making reference for the synergistic development of intellectual property protection and green innovation in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
