Can the Construction of Smart Supply Chain Promote the Division of Labor?—Based on the Pilot Policy of Supply Chain Innovation and Application
Based on supply chain agility and supply chain synergy theory, this study takes the supply chain innovation and application pilot in 2018 as a quasi-natural experiment in the construction of smart supply chain, with the aim to explore the role of smart supply chain construction in improving the efficiency of divi-sion of labor among enterprises and smoothing the dual circulation of international and domestic markets. The paper examines the impact of smart supply chain construction on the division of labor and its mechanism based on the data of listed companies from 2013 to 2020.The results are as follows:(1)The empirical analy-sis shows that the construction of smart supply chain has a significantly improved effect on the division of labor, and the conclusion is still valid after a series of robustness tests.(2)The mechanism analysis shows that the construction of smart supply chain improves the division of labor through three effects:transaction cost mechanism, relationship effect mechanism and financing mechanism, and they all have passed the empiri-cal test.(3)The heterogeneity test results show that there are differences in the division effect of smart sup-ply chain on different types of enterprises divided by seven aspects:enterprise ownership, enterprise life cycle, industrial heterogeneity, factor intensity, factor market segmentation degree, enterprise digitization level and regional heterogeneity. Therefore, this paper provides theoretical support and empirical evidence at the micro level for promoting the construction of intelligent supply chain, promoting internal division of labor and enhancing national competitiveness.
