Effect of nutritional status in late pregnancy on the nutrient composition of colostrum
Objective To analyze the relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women in late pregnancy and the nutritional composition of colostrum and its effects. Methods This study was a retrospective analysis.Clinical data of 300 pregnant women over 28 weeks of gestation who underwent prenatal examination and delivery in the Obstetrics Department Women's Hospital School of Medicine Zhejiang University from June 2022 to December 2022 were collected. The level of secretory immunoglobulin A(sIgA)in colostrum was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The biochemical indicators of all pregnant women including blood lipid, blood glucose, hemoglobin(Hb)and ferritin(SF)levels were collected.Multivariate linear regression was used to analyze the effect of maternal nutritional status in the third trimester on the nutritional composition of colostrum. Results Multivariate linear regression model analysis showed that pre-pregnancy BMI,pre-delivery BMI,TG and TC were independent risk factors for fat content in colostrum.Preconception BMI and predelivery BMI were independent risk factors for carbohydrate content in colostrum(both P<0.05).Pre-pregnancy BMI,pre-delivery BMI and blood glucose were protective factors affecting sIgA levels in colostrum(all P<0.05).Conclusion The nutritional status indicators of preconception BMI and predelivery BMI of pregnant women in the third trimester can affect the changes of various colostrum macronutrients and sIgA levels.
