Experimental Study on Mineral Processing of Low Iron Quartz Sand for Photovoltaic Glass Preparation from Kaolin Tailings
The main mineral composition of a sandy kaolin tailings in Guangdong is quartz, and the gangue minerals are small amounts of kaolin, feldspar, mica, etc. To achieve high-value utilization of the tailings, beneficiation and purification experiments were conducted on samples with a particle size of 0.6~8mm in the tailings. The results show that after the treatment of"ceramic ball milling classification three-stage magnetic separation",the yield of magnetic separation fine sand operation is 66.1%;The SiO2 content is 99.65%,Al2O3 content is 0.12%,and Fe2O3 content is 0.0092%,meeting the quality requirements of low iron quartz sand for photovoltaic glass with Fe2O3 content less than 0.01%;Further acid washing of magnetic separation fine sand can meet the quality requirements of low iron quartz sand for photovoltaic glass with Fe2O3 content less than 0.0080%,providing a new process reference for high-value utilization of kaolin tailings resources.
