Progress of research on the efficacy and complications of radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of thyroid disorders
As the clinically most common endocrine system disease,thyroid disorder is a global health problem character-ized by high incidence and high disease burden.Currently,surgery remains the standard treatment of most thyroid cancers;however,active surveillance remains a feasible option for treatment of low-risk thyroid disorders.As the currently most widely used approach of thermal ablation,radiofrequency ablation is a safe and effective treatment for a variety of thyroid disorders.The review presents the advances in the efficacy and complications of radiofrequency ablation for treatment of be-nign thyroid nodules,follicular thyroid adenoma,and primary and recurrent thyroid cancers.
