Preparation and properties of flame retardant acrylic resin coatings
To solve the problems of low flame retardant performance in the use of acrylic resin,a flame-retardant acrylic resin coating PA-IFR was prepared by adding intumescent flame retardants(IFR)composed of ammonium polyphosphate(APP),pentaerythritol(PER)and melamine(MEL)to the acrylic resin emulsion by combining ultrasonic and mechanical stirring. The chemical structure, transmittance, hardness and flame retardant properties of PA-IFR were tested by infrared spectrometer,X-ray diffractometer, pencil hardness tester and limiting oxygen index meter. The results show that the hardness of the PA-IFR reaches 5 H and the limiting oxygen index(LOI)value reaches 32.6%when the mass fraction of the IFR is 30%and the formula ratio of APP/PER/MEL is 2∶1∶1.The acrylic resin coating prepared in this study is a flame retardant material.
