Degradation of methylene blue solution by kilo-hertz dielectric barrier discharge
In view of the characteristics of dye wastewater, such as large chroma, complex composition, high salinity, high concentration, and difficult degradation,a kilo-hertz atmospheric pressure dielectric barrier discharge was used to treat the simulated dye wastewater of methylene blue solution, and the effect of different discharge conditions on the degradation rate of methylene blue was studied. The current, voltage waveform and plasma emission spectrum were used to diagnose dielectric barrier discharge. The degradation rate of methylene blue was calculated by absorbance, and the degradation of methylene blue under different discharge gap,tip shape and discharge atmosphere was analyzed. The results show that the degradation rate of methylene blue can be improved with 0.44 cm discharge gap, bevel tip and thinner needle tube, and it is more efficient and economical to use air as the discharge atmosphere without additional gas.The kilo-hertz dielectric barrier discharge can be effectively applied to the degradation of methylene blue solution, and has a broad application prospect in the treatment of dye wastewater.
