Performance Analysis of Cold Storage Cooling System Based on Phase Change Thermal Energy Storage Technology
To address the issue of high energy consumption in existing cold storage facilities, this study proposed a cold storage cooling system based on phase change thermal energy storage technology. The system stored cold energy during off-peak hours when electricity prices were low and releases it during peak hours when electricity prices were high. This paper designed and calculated key parameters such as system cooling load, cold storage capacity, phase change material usage, and flow rate, and conducted a performance analysis of the system's operation. The results showed that compared to traditional air-cooled direct cooling systems, this system reduced daily average electricity consumption by 88.6%during peak hours and 81.9%during high-peak hours, with an energy-saving rate of 18.69%.Additionally,the daily average electricity cost was reduced by 46.72%.Furthermore,the daily average number of compressor startups was decreased by 72.48%,improving the system's stability, effectively extending the service life of equipment, and reducing maintenance costs. This system had significant advantages in enhancing system stability, reducing energy consumption, and lowering operating costs.
