Effects of Different Preservative Formulations on Cut Paeonia lactiflora Flowers
As a traditional famous flower in China,the preservation of peony is the key to its supply market.In order to screen suitable preservatives for peony cut flowers,this study evaluated the effects of three different preservatives(basal preservative,chitosan,and melatonin)on the preservation of peony cut flowers using bud diameter,flowers fresh quality and other evaluation indicators.The results showed that the preservation effect of the formula of 20 g/L sucrose+250 mg/L citric acid+0.04 mmol/L melatonin has the best preservation effect,extending the vase life of cut flowers by about 18 days,which was 6 days longer than the blank control.The average diameter of flowers increased by 5.23%compared to the blank control.The formula slowed decline in flower quality.
