Effect of the Pellets of Bacillus subtilis Inoculated Biochar on the Growth of Continuous Cropping Celery
In order to solve the adverse effects of continuous cropping disorder on the growth and development of vegetables, the celery soil with three years of continuous cropping was researched in the study.A randomized block potted design was conducted with five treatments:Biochar alone(BC),Bacillus subtilis alone(BS),biochar mixed with B.subtilis(BB),pellets of B.subtilis inoculated biochar(BP)and no biochar and B.subtilis(CK).The growth and quality indexes of celery were determined to obtain the effects of biochar and B.subtilis on the growth of continuous cropping. The results showed that the growth and quality indexes of celery in BB and BP treatment groups were higher than those in other treatment groups. The fresh mass, soluble protein content, and cellulose content of celery in the BP group, which were 60.25 g/plant,27.25 mg/g and 2.48%,respectively,were significantly higher than those in the BB treatment group. There were no significant differences in the other indexes between the BP and BB treatments. The growth and quality indexes of celery in treatment groups were higher than those in CK group. Moreover, the indexes of celery in BP treatment group were the highest, especially for the fresh mass, which increased by 226.56%over CK group. Therefore, the growth and quality indexes of celery were improved by the application of the pellets of B.subtilis inoculated biochar, which laied a theoretical foundation for their application to alleviate celery continuous cropping obstacle in agriculture.
