Correlation between Discharge Readiness and Stoma Adaptability in Patients with Enterostomy
Objective To investigate the current situation of discharge readiness in patients with enteros-tomy and analyze its correlation with stoma adaptability,so as to provide useful guidance for the develop-ment of corresponding services and interventions. Methods A total of 119 patients with enterostomy from 3 Grade A hospitals in Shandong Province from November 2022 to April 2023 were selected. The gen-eral information questionnaire, the readiness for hospital discharge scale for patients with enterostomy(RHDS)and the stoma adaptability index-20(OAI-20)were used to conduct a questionnaire survey on the day of discharge. Results The total score of RHDS was(131.39±29.41)points,and the average score of each item was(7.30±1.65)points,which was at a low level. The total score of OAI-20 was(42.01± 11.81)points,which was at a moderate level of adaptation, including the score of negative emotion dimen-sion(13.34±3.54)points,the score of positive emotion dimension(16.61±6.33)points,and the score of social life dimension(12.05±3.39)points.The total score of stoma adaptability was positively correlated with the total score of discharge readiness(P<0.05),and the social life dimension and positive emotion dimension were positively correlated with the total score of discharge readiness(P<0.01).Patients'living style, family annual per capita income, education level, the convenience of access to medical resources, the frequency of doctors guiding stoma management, the frequency of nurses caring and guiding stoma, and pa-tients'positive emotions are the main influencing factors of discharge readiness in patients with enterosto-my(P<0.05).Conclusion The level of discharge readiness in patients with enterostomy is generally low,and the adaptability is at a medium level, and both are correlated.Nursing staff should start from the influencing factors and provide personalized nursing plans according to the individual differences of patients with enterostomy to improve their discharge readiness so as to adapt to the stoma as soon as possible.
