Correlation Analysis of Intestinal Flora Characteristics and IL-23/IL-17 Expression with Hp Infection in Patients with Ulcerative Colitis
Objective To investigate the correlation of intestinal flora characteristics and IL-23/IL-17 ex-pression in ulcerative colitis(UC)patients with Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection. Methods Total 70 UC patients(UC group)admitted to our department from August 2020 to August 2023 and 70 healthy people(healthy control group,HC group)in the same period were selected as the study objects. The intes-tinal flora,IL-17,IL-23 levels and Hp infection of UC group and HC group were compared. At the same time, the UC group was divided into Hp positive UC group(30 cases)and Hp negative UC group(40 ca-ses)according to whether they were accompanied by Hp infection. The intestinal flora,IL-17 and IL-23 lev-els of patients in Hp positive UC group and Hp negative UC group were compared.Spearman correlation and Logistic regression were used to analyze the correlation between intestinal flora,IL-17,IL-23 and Hp infection in UC patients. Results The levels of Escherichia coli,IL-17 and IL-23 in the UC group were higher than those in the HC group, and the level of bifidobacteria longum in the UC group was lower than that in the HC group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in Lactobacillus acidophilus between the two groups(P>0.05).The Hp infection rate in the UC group(42.86%)was lower than that in the HC group(65.71%)(P<0.05).The level of bifidobacteria longum in Hp positive UC group was higher than that in Hp negative UC group, and the levels of IL-17 and IL-23 in Hp positive UC group were lower than those in Hp negative UC group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in Lactobacillus aci-dophilus and Escherichia coli between the two groups(P>0.05).Spearman analysis showed that IL-17 and IL-23 were negatively correlated with Hp infection in UC(r=-0.733,-0.836,P<0.05),and positively correlated with bifidobacteria longum(r=0.367,P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that bifidobacteria longum,IL-17 and IL-23 were independent factors for Hp infection in UC(P<0.05).Conclusion The distribution of intestinal flora and abnormal expression of IL-23 and IL-17 in UC patients are closely related to Hp infection.
