Effect of Terminal Protective Ileostomy on Intestinal Function Recovery and Incidence of Complication After Rectal Cancer Operation
Objective To investigate the effect of terminal protective ileostomy on intestinal function re-covery and incidence of complication in rectal cancer patients undergoing anal preservation operation. Methods Total 80 patients with rectal cancer who underwent anal preservation operation in our hospital from December 2020 to December 2022 were selected as study participants and grouped according to whether or not a terminal protective ileostomy was performed.Total 39 patients in the observation group underwent terminal protective ileostomy, while 41 patients in the control group did not.The postoperative intestinal function recovery, postoperative recovery, incidence of postoperative complications and levels of inflammatory factors were compared between the two groups. Results The postoperative intestinal function recovery time and postoperative recovery time of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group(P<0.05),and the incidence of postoperative complications and the levels of inflamma-tory factors 3 days after operation of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Terminal protective ileostomy during anal preservation operation in rectal cancer patients can improve the intestinal function, reduce complications, lower the levels of inflammatory factors, and accelerate the recovery of patients.
