Clinical Efficacy of Shenqi Runchang Decoction and Moxibustion of Shenque Acupoint in Treating Senile Functional Constipation
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Shenqi Runchang Decoction and moxibustion of Shenque acupoint in the treatment of senile functional constipation.Methods Total 116 elderly patients with functional constipation were randomly divided into control group and observation group,58 cases in each group.The control group was treated with oral Shenqi Runchang Decoction,while the observation group was combined with moxibustion of Shenque acupoint on the basis of the treatment of the control group.The efficacy,constipation degree,TCM syndrome score,digestive hormone level and quality of life(QOL)of the two groups were compared before and after treatment.Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Before treatment,there was no significant difference in Clinical Score Scale(CCS),Symptom Self-rating Scale for constipation patients(PAC-SYM),TCM syndrome score,digestive hormone level and QOL between the two groups(P＞0.05).After treatment,the CCS,PAC-SYM and TCM syndrome scores in the observation group were low-er than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Serum motilin(MTL)level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05),levels of vasoactive intestinal peptide(VIP)and nitric oxide(NO)were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The score of PAC-QOL in the obser-vation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Shenqi Runchang Decoc-tion combined with moxibustion of Shenque acupoint is effective in the treatment of senile functional con-stipation,which can effectively reduce the clinical symptoms of patients,regulate the digestive hormone level,and improve the QOL of patients.
