Large steel vertical atmospheric storage tanks for crude oil are widely used in major petrochemical plants along the coast of China.Due to heavy rain and strong illumination in coastal areas, the tanks are prone to corrosion failure.During the overall inspection of a large crude oil atmospheric storage tank in a petrochemical plant in Guangdong Province,it was found that due to the operation period of the crude oil storage tank being put into operation for more than 10 years, there were many corrosion defects on the internal and external walls of the tank, the tank bottom plate and the auxiliary structures. The causes of corrosion were analyzed, and scientific and reasonable anti-corrosion measures were proposed.
