This paper analyzes the characteristics of phased array ultrasonic testing for defect quantification, and introduces the particularity of phased array ultrasonic testing using engineering critical assessment(ECA)for defect quantification.Through a variety of detection methods to detect and analyze the embedded defects in the weld,it is found that the engineering critical assessment method can not only rationally analyze and evaluate the defects, but also ensure the consistency of the test results. It is concluded that the method of engineering critical assessment in phased array ultrasonic testing is scientific, reasonable, accurate and reliable.
