The energy consumption diagnostic test was carried out for a 600 MW coal-fired boiler. The boiler efficiency, air leakage of air preheater and flue section, power consumption of auxiliary boiler were tested, the temperature and heat absorption of steam were calculated, the combustion characteristics of coal were studied by thermogravimetric analyzer, which made the energy consumption status of this unit concluded.According to the test results, the main causes of energy loss were high exhaust temperature, high carbon content of fly ash, high power consumption rate of auxiliary engine, low reheat steam temperature and large air leakage of boiler. The measures of energy saving were put forward for the aspects of operation optimization adjustment, equipment management and technical transformation, which estimated that the coal consumption of power supply could be reduced by about 6.78 g/kWh.
