In response to the issues of fuzziness and randomness in the safety assessment process of crane metal structures,a hierarchical safety assessment method based on cloud modeling and DEMATEL-CRITIC is proposed.Building upon the foundation of cloud modeling, the method utilizes DEMATEL and an improved CRITIC method for combined weighting, generating more reliable and balanced comprehensive weights that consider both subjective and objective factors. These weights are then used to calculate the overall membership degrees for each assessment structure, determining the safety level of the entire crane's metal structure. The method provides a comprehensive evaluation of the crane's safety status.Taking a certain quayside container gantry crane as an example,an analysis was conducted to validate the accuracy and effectiveness of this method, providing a new approach for the safety assessment of cranes.
