Welded joints are the weak point of steam piping. At present, the conventional nondestructive testing methods are used for the detection of buried defects of welded joints, and they must be tested in the state of steam stopping. In order to quickly determine whether there is a defect in the welded joint of the steam pipeline and realize the detection of buried defects of welded joints in the steam pipeline in the state of steam, hysteresis nondestructive testing is used to measure the coercivity value of welded joints in this paper.Through the study of the relationship between the unwelded penetration depth of the welded joint and the coercivity value, and the coercivity values of different detection directions of welded joints,it is proved that this method can quickly detect buried defects in welded joints in the steam pipeline under the condition of ventilation.
