In the regular inspection process of overhead pipelines and buried pipelines, excessive defects are often detected.Due to objective reasons, the user units often cannot complete the repair work within a limited time.In order to ensure the safe operation of pressure pipelines,it is necessary to conduct safety assessment on the detected excessive defects. This article is based on the methods of GB/T 19624-2019 and SY/T 6477-2017,and uses the professional pipe system stress analysis software CAESAR Ⅱ for modeling and analysis.Taking the pipelines of a certain steel group and a certain gas company as examples, evaluation calculations have been carried out.The evaluation results show that the excessive defects all meet the requirements and can be monitored and operated in the next inspection cycle, and the excessive defects can be repaired when the repair conditions are met.
