Research progress on chondrocyte mitochondrial oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis(OA)is one of the most common joint diseases in the elderly, and an important factor leading to disability.Chondrocytes are the only cells in mature cartilage. The stability and the maintenance of normal function of chondrocytes play important roles in delaying the progression of OA.Recent studies have found that abnormal mitochondrial oxidative stress in chondrocytes is closely related to OA.This article reviews the underlying mechanisms of mitochondrial oxidative stress in chondrocytes during the pathogenesis of OA,providing valuable insights for further research on OA.
