Minimally invasive compression screw internal fixation through the palmar approach guided by robotic-assisted 3D printing technology in the treatment of carpal scaphoid fractures
Objective:To investigate the clinical effectiveness of minimally invasive compression screw internal fixation through the palmar approach guided by robotic-assisted 3D printing technology in the treatment of carpal scaphoid fractures. Methods:Ninety patients with carpal scaphoid fractures from April 2020 to December 2022 were randomly divided into a conventional surgery group(n=45)and a robot navigation group(n=45)using a random number table method. The conventional surgery group underwent minimally invasive compression screw internal fixation through the palmar approach, while the robot navigation group underwent minimally invasive compression screw internal fixation through the palmar approach guided by robotic-assisted 3D printing technology. The surgical time and fracture healing time were compared between the two groups.Preoperative and postoperative wrist joint mobility, wrist joint function, and the incidence of complications were also compared between the two groups. Results:The surgical time and fracture healing time of the robot navigation group were shorter than those of the conventional surgery group(both P<0.05).At 12 months post-surgery,the mobility of palmar flexion, dorsiflexion, radial deviation, and ulnar deviation in both groups were better than those before surgery, and those in the robot navigation group were higher than the conventional surgery group(all P<0.05).Additionally,at 12 months post-surgery,the pain levels, functional status, range of motion, grip strength dimension scores, and total scores in both groups were better than before surgery, and the robot navigation group was superior to the conventional surgery group(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Robotic-assisted 3D printing technology guided minimally invasive compression screw internal fixation through the palmar approach can shorten the surgical time, reduce intraoperative bleeding, promote fracture healing, and better promote wrist joint mobility and functional recovery, with good safety.
