Research progress of nucleic acid aptamers and their application in orthopedics
Nucleic acid aptamers refer to single-stranded oligonucleotide molecular sequences obtained through systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment(SELEX)technology.Due to their high affinity and specificity, nucleic acid aptamers offer advantages such as lower cost, higher stability and no immunogenicity compared to traditional antibody techniques. They are currently widely used in various fields, including food safety, environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, and targeted drug delivery. In orthopedics, nucleic acid aptamers represent a new application and research field with main progress focused on the regeneration of bone and cartilage tissue, and the diagnosis and treatment of bone tumor diseases. However, there is currently limited research and application of nucleic acid aptamers due to the complicated selection process and high failure rate of nucleic acid aptamers. This article reviews the current application of nucleic acid aptamers and their research progress in the field of orthopedics.
