Progress and prospects of minimally invasive surgery for calcaneal fractures
Calcaneal fractures, common foot injuries often resulting from high-energy trauma, pose significant challenges due to their specific anatomical structure and high incidence of postoperative complications.Surgical intervention is typically preferred for displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures. With the development of minimally invasive orthopedic techniques, the application of minimally invasive surgery in calcaneal fractures has increased.Compared to traditional open surgery, minimally invasive surgery can reduce soft tissue damage and intraoperative bleeding, and effectively reduce the incidence of soft tissue complications while ensuring the efficacy of fracture reduction and fixation. However, the optimal minimally invasive approach varies depending on the specific type of calcaneal fracture, leading to ongoing debate in the field. Moreover, with the increasing maturity of digital orthopedic technology,it has gradually played a critical role in minimally invasive surgical techniques for calcaneal fractures. This article reviews the development and prospects of minimally invasive surgical techniques for treating calcaneal fractures in recent years.
