Research progress on the biological mechanism of wear particles induced prosthesis aseptic loosening after artificial joint replacement
Artificial joint replacement is one of the most successful surgeries in orthopaedics. However, postoperative aseptic loosening of prostheses remains the leading cause of failure in both primary and revision surgeries.Aseptic loosening refers to the loosening that occurs between the artificial joint prostheses and bone in the absence of external trauma or infection.Based on the biological mechanism of wear particles in periprosthetic osteolysis, this article discusses the relationships among macrophages, osteoclasts, osteoblasts, and fibroblasts and aseptic loosening of prostheses, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of aseptic loosening of prostheses after artificial joint replacement.
