Objective To compare the incidence of complications between midline catheter and intravenous indwelling nee-dle in intravenous infusion therapy of acute poisoning patients, and to explore the clinical application value of midline catheter in in-travenous infusion therapy of acute poisoning patients. Methods One hundred and six patients with acute poisoning admitted from January 2019 to June 2020 were selected as the study objects,fifty-six patients with acute poisoning treated with midline catheter were selected as the midline catheter group, and 50 patients with acute poisoning established with common forearm ve-nous indentation needle during the same period were selected as the control group. The incidence of fluid seepage, blood seepage at puncture, phlebitis, pain, swelling of infusion site, infusion obstruction/catheter blockage, catheter displacement or extravasa-tion were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence rates of fluid seepage, pain, swelling of infusion site,infu-sion obstruction/catheter blockage in the midline catheter group were lower than those in the control group. Conclusion In the treatment of acute poisoning patients with intravenous infusion, the effect of using midline catheter is better than that of intrave-nous indwelling needle.
