Fatty acid metabolism, including the synthesis, absorption, oxidation, and derivation of fatty acids, plays an important role at the cellular and organ levels.Recent studies have found that there are characteristic changes in fatty acid metabolism in bone cells of osteoporosis models, suggesting that abnormal fatty acid metabolism may be one of the pathogenesis of osteoporosis. Therefore, this article focuses on exploring the role of fatty acid metabolism pathways in regulating the function of specific cells and related pathological cell responses in osteoporosis, including osteoblasts and osteoclasts, and summarize potential therapeutic drugs for osteoporosis based on fatty acid metabolism pathways to provide scientific basis for the treatment of osteoporosis.
