Ferroptosis is a novel form of cell death directly mediated by the accumulation of lipid peroxides and reactive oxygen species.Increasing evidence suggests that ferroptosis plays an important role in orthopedic diseases such as osteoarthritis(OA),spinal cord injury(SCI),osteoporosis(OP),and osteosarcoma(OS).Ferroptosis provides new targets and approaches for the treatment of orthopedic diseases in cell function,signaling pathways,drug inhibition,and gene silencing.Therefore,this article discusses the latest application progress of ferroptosis in orthopedic diseases,and provides new ideas for further clinical research and treatment of common orthopedic diseases.
