Sarcopenia and dysphagia are common pathological conditions in the elderly.Older patients with sarcopenia often experience a decrease in the quality and strength of the muscle groups associated with swallowing,Results ing in dysphagia.Decreased absorption of nutrients due to decreased swallowing further exacerbates malnutrition and muscle breakdown,accelerates the process of sarcopenia,and causes the causal cycle between the two.It has become one of the main health problems of the elderly group.However,there is limited attention to this field in China.The specific pathogenesis mechanism has not yet been clarified.The correlation between the two needs to be further studied.Therefore,this article reviews the correlation between senile sarcopenia and dysphagia,in order to improve the understanding of the correlation between the two among medical professionals and to provide reference for related research.
