The watershed pollution caused by the tailwater generated by the in-situ leaching method for mining ionic rare earth minerals is an urgent problem that needs to be solved. This article analyzes the main characteristics of watershed rare earth mine tailings and the difficulties faced in their treatment. On the basis of drawing on traditional biochemical methods,a nitrogen removal technology has been proposed, which integrates infiltration nitrification and denitrification. The principle, characteristics, treatment effects, and engineering applications of this technology were systematically introduced,in order to provide a path for the treatment of rare earth mine tailings in China's watersheds.
