Application of Probabilistic Safety Evaluation to Test Cycle Optimi-zation of the Main Steam Isolation Valve
Periodic testing is an important activity to ensure the reliability and availability of structures, systems and components(SSCs)in nuclear power plants. However, too frequent periodic testing may reduce the safety of the plant and increase the unnecessary burden of the plant.Probabilistic safety assessment(PSA)technique has been widely used in the nuclear industry. The risk guidance technique combined with the probability theory and the certainty theory can be used to optimize the regular test cycle of power plants,so as to optimize the re-source allocation of power plants and improve the supervision and operation efficiency of nuclear power plants on the premise of ensuring sufficient safety of power plants.Based on a series of nuclear regulatory commission(NRC)guidelines, this paper analyzes the periodic test cycle optimization of partial shutdown of the main steam isolation valve at Fangjiashan NPP.The results show that it is feasible to extend the periodic test period of par-tial shutdown of the main steam isolation valve in Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant from monthly to every three months, and finally get the approval of the National Nuclear Safety Administration.
