During the full-flow test of the TWL-45S auxiliary feedwater system(ASG)turbine-driven pump at certain nuclear power plant,an issue of excessive deviation in head was frequently encountered. The main reason for this problem was the high frictional force, sticking or change in spring stiffness of the internal moving components of the steam-driven pump speed regulator, leading to different working positions of the speed governor after the pump started, thereby affecting its head.A study on the operation principle of the speed governor was conducted, and an automated test bench suitable for testing this pump's speed governor was developed. This test bench consists of high-pressure and low-pressure hydraulic systems, capable of pressurizing the upper and lower cylinder chambers of the speed governor, enabling measurement of the frictional force of its internal moving components, measurement of spring stiffness, and detection of seal leakage. Therefore, the quality of maintenance of the speed governor and the reliability of the equipment were improved.
