Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Based Methane Monitoring Technology and Its Application in Oil and Gas Industry
Accurate monitoring of methane emission is the basis and premise to achieve greenhouse gas emission reduction and control in oil and gas industry.Due to the features of great flexibility,strong operability,wide scope of coverage and low operation cost,the methane monitoring technology using unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)as flight flatform has great application potential in the field of regional methane monitoring in oil and gas industry.This paper elaborates the advantages of UAVs based methane monitoring technology,classification of UAVs,and compares the performance of various UAVs based on flight ability and payload capacity,summarizes the payload types,characteristics and application scenarios of UAVs.The various applications of UAVs based methane monitoring technology in oil and gas industry are also summarized,which aims to provide theoretical and technical reference for the development of UAVs platform into methane monitoring technology in China's oil and gas industry.
