Determination of Bromide and Iodide Ions in Underground Water by Amperometric Detection on Ion Chromatography
A method for simultaneous determination of Br-and I-was established by ion chromatography-ICS5000+.The separation of anions was achieved on an IonPac AS19 Column.45 mmol/L NaOH was used as eluent.Injection volume was 25 μL and flow rate was 1.5 mL/min.And Ag-AgCl was electrode on electrochemical detector."Silver,Ag-AgCl RE,S2-,CN,I-,S2 O32-,Alkaline"waveform was applied on integrated amperometric detector.Determination of national standard substance GSB 07-1380-2001 205406 and GBW09113h showed that the relative error was Br-3.9%,I-5.8%.This method's detection limit was Br-6.0μg/L,I-1.0μg/L;Standard recovery rate was Br-104.0%,I-95.0%;Relative standard deviation was Br-3.0%,I-2.1%.This method could be completed in 10 min. Some influence factors on amperometric detection were also discussed, which is helpful in experiment but rarely reported. This method is more selective, and will not interfered by other main anions such as chloridion.Detection limit is as low as micrograms per liter, and analysis time is short. This method is suitable for the requirements of determination of bromide and iodide ions in underground water and other environmental water. It makes up for the shortcomings of the existing standard methods.
