Influencing factors of safety practice among nurses in High-Alert Medications:a qualitative study
Objective:To understand the cognitive experience of nurses on the influencing factors of High-Alert Medications(HAM)safety practice,and provide a reference for nurses to manage HAM more safely and effectively.Methods:Thirteen clinical nurses and nursing managers from different departments were selected by purposive sampling method.The clinical event analysis model was used as the theoretical framework,and the descriptive qualitative research method was used to conduct semi-structured interviews and key event interviews.Data were analyzed by content analysis method.Results:A descriptive model of the practice of preventing HAM errors,HAM safety:organizational,nursing and cooperation influences,was constructed.Three themes and 8 subthemes were extracted:organizational factors,nurse abilities and responsibilities,communication and cooperation.Conclusion:The medication safety of HAM in nurses is affected by organizational culture,their knowledge and ability,communication and cooperation between doctors,nurses and patients.This study provides a conceptual framework for the practice of safety management of HAM,and a theoretical basis for medical institutions to manage HAM safely and effectively.
