The relationship between quality of work life and death-coping competence among oncology nurses
Objective:To investigate the current situation of oncology nurses'quality of work life and the death-coping ability,and to explore their correlation.Methods:A total of 193 nurses from two grade A tertiary specialized oncology hospitals in Guangzhou were selected by convenience sampling method from July to August 2020,and were surveyed on-site using a general information questionnaire,a work-related quality of life scale,and a death-coping ability scale.Results:The total score of work-related quality of life was 106.89±16.46,which was at a medium level.The total score of death-coping ability was 128.29±27.83.The total score of quality of work life was significantly and positively correlated with the total score of death-coping ability,the ability to deal with near-death,and the ability to express thoughts about death(r=0.161,P<0.05).Conclusion:Both oncology nurses'quality of work life and their death-coping ability were at a medium level.Death coping ability was an important influence on quality of work life.By improving nurses'ability to cope with death,such as strengthening end-of-life nursing training and psychological counseling,managers can help improve nurses'quality of work and life and stabilize the nursing team.
