Status quo of the enterostomy care management in 417 hospitals nationwide
Objective:To explore the current situation of nursing management of enterostomal patients in China to provide references for improving the quality of nursing management of those patients.Methods:In March 2024,hospitals in the 31 provinces of China were selected using purposive sampling method,and the self-designed"Questionnaire on Nursing Management of Enterostomal Patients"was used to conduct the survey for future analysis.Results:A total of 417 hospitals participated in the survey.366(87.8%)hospitals had management systems/procedures related to enterostomy care,which,however,failed to cover all the aspects of enterostomy care management;different healthcare providers were included in the management team of patients with enterostomies,namely,400 hospitals(95.9%)had wound,ostomy and continence nurses.315 hospitals(75.5%)offered preoperative stoma positioning,225 hospitals(54.0%)carried out temporary pelvic floor rehabilitation for patients with enterostomies,and 380(91.1%)hospitals carried out follow-up of patients.And 223(53.5%)and 199(47.7%)hospitals gave guidance on available medical resources and sexual content,respectively.Conclusion:The development of nursing management system and workflow for patients with enterostomies was fairly good,the forms of extended nursing services were diversified.However,the promotion of multidisciplinary team management mode was poor,and the implementation rate of nursing services for patients with enterostomies remained be improved,which required further improvement of the management system and workflow arrangement,strengthening of multidisciplinary cooperation,and implementation of nursing services.
