As the available energy with the largest storage and throughput in China,coal is of great significance for ensuring the energy safety of China.Through summarizing the role of Huanghua port as the key interchange in the chain of thermal coal transportation,the paper analyzes the risks and challenges of the thermal coal transportation at Huanghua port and proposes countermeasures for the maritime administration in safeguarding the thermal coal transportation.
