Correlation analysis on vascular risk factors for idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus
Objective To explore the correlation between idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus(iNPH)and common vascular risk factors(VRF),and investigate the correlation between the duration, severity of related risk factors and iNPH.Methods 104 inpatients with iNPH from Jan 2019 to Oct 2022 in our hospital(iNPH group),and 70 subjects with normal cognitive function matched with the age, gender and education level of iNPH patients were collected(control group).Information on age, gender, hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, hyperhomocysteinemia, smoking, drinking history and so on were collected.Multivariate unconditional Logistic regression analysis was used to study the correlation between VRF and iNPH.Spearman correlation analysis were used to study the correlation between the severity of risk factors and iNPH.Results There were no significant differences in age and gender(male)between the iNPH group and the control group(P>0.05).There were significant differences in diabetes, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that hypertension and diabetes were the risk factors for iNPH.iNPH was positively correlated with the duration and grade of hypertension, and cardiovascular risk stratification of diabetes. Conclusion Hypertension and diabetes are common vascular risk factors for iNPH.iNPH is positively correlated with the duration of hypertension, hypertension classification and cariovascular risk stratification of diabetes.
