The correlation between serum miR-99a-5p and degree of neurological impairment and inflammatory factors in elderly patients with acute ischemic stroke
Objective To investigate the correlation between serum miR-99a-5p and the degree of neurological impairment and inflammatory factors such as interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8(IL-8)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in elderly patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS).Methods 165 elderly patients with AIS were divided into the mild group(NIHSS score<5),the moderate group(NIHSS score 5~20),and the severe group(NIHSS score>20)by National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS).60 objects without severe diseases, organ damage and normal physical check-up results were selected as the control group. The expression level of serum miR-99a-5p was detected by PCR.The levels of serum IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The value of miR-99a-5p in the diagnosis of elderly AIS was analyzed using ROC curve analysis, and Pearson was used for correlation analysis. Results The levels of serum miR-99a-5p,IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α in AIS group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of serum miR-99a-5p,IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α in the severe group were significantly higher than those in the moderate group and the mild group(P<0.05).The AUC of the serum miR-99a-5p expression level=1.66 was 0.832 for diagnosing elderly AIS,with sensitivity and specificity of 86.2%and 79.4%,respectively.Related analysis showed that the expression level of serum miR-99a-5p in elderly AIS patients was positively correlated with IL-6(r=0.608),IL-8(r=0.426),TNF-α(r=0.518)and NIHSS score(r=0.774).Conclusion Serum miR-99a-5p is related to the degree neurological impairment and inflammatory factors, and has certain value for the diagnosis of elderly AIS.
