Methodological studies on rapid determination of salt content in saline soils by refractometer
The problem of salt damage is the most prominent among the corrosion phenomena faced by buildings. In order to quickly and accurately determine the total salt content, using refractometer to detect total soil salt content is studied.58 soil samples from Hexi region of Gansu are selected for the study, and leaching solutions with different soil-water ratios are prepared. The refractive indexes of these leachates are determined by refractometer.Correlation curves are established between total soil salt content and refractive index of leachates with different soil-water ratios. The results show a significant positive correlation between total soil salt content and refractive index of leachates with different soil-water ratios.Among them, the correlation at soil-water ratio 1:1 is the strongest. And a method is proposed to determine total soil salt content by measuring refractive index of the leachate and using the established correlation equation.
