Stability analysis and engineering treatment suggestions for a rock heap in Gansu
In this paper, the stability analysis of a large rock heap in Gansu is conducted.Based on the deformation characteristics, the rock heap is divided into four zones,A,B,C,and D.For Zone B and C with poor stability, stability analysis is conducted on two mechanisms of internal instability and instability along surface. The stability coefficient of sliding along rock soil interface is greater than 1,indicating an under stable to basically stable state with a low possibility of instability. The stability coefficients of internal heap under seismic conditions are 0.854 and 0.847,indicating an unstable state with a high possibility of instability.Due to the steep slope of rock heap, setting anti slip measures on rock heap has a risk of overtopping. Therefore, setting anti-collision measures at bridge piers is an economically effective means.
