Development of Frequency-Stabilized Lasers in Space-Based Gravitational Wave Detection
Continuous wave lasers with ultra-high frequency stability are adopted as light sources in many space missions for gravitational wave detection.Free-running lasers are unable to meet the requirements for laser frequency noise control in space-based gravitational wave detectors, and it is necessary to adopt a frequency pre-stabilization stage to effectively suppress the frequency noise of the laser, especially those low-frequency noise components. The basic composition of spaceborne frequency-stabilized lasers is outlined, and their research status are introduced.Taking a spaceborne frequency-stabilized laser that is currently under development as an example, the development trend of spaceborne frequency-stabilized lasers is analyzed. With the continuous improvement of their performance and environmental adaptability, spaceborne frequency-stabilized lasers will play an important role in space applications such as coherent optical communication and satellite gravity measurement.
